You know I love to sneak local organic ingredients into my menus even in the middle of winter 👵🏻❤️ winter greens, einkorn flour, preserves tomato, local sourdough bread, fermented farm carrots 🥕
Also… These chocolate drizzled grapes with sea salt are really rocking my socks! Can’t wait to make ‘em this summer with concords.

Hello the lovely people!!
Popping on to wish everyone a Happy New Year ahead- and first, a reflection on the year passing, full of beautiful people and nourishing foods grown and prepared by those with steadfast care for our world and its inhabitants. The news tries to scare the living bajeezus out of us, but when I tune into the world being slowly and diligently tended to, content, hope and inspiration live. I made a little chart of all the good stuff of this past year, some of them being finishing a draft of my little cookbook, all the awesome farm to table events, farm markets & food friends, delivering food to gracious customers, teaching, growing cucuzza, picking flowers to adorn garden cakes and salads…. Wow, I am so grateful. I look forward to the work of the coming year, taking good care of my self, my loved ones & little community, and letting my unique light shine and grow.
✨Start simple and small, do your best to stay in integrity and not betray your heart, spirit and human body. We are strong, we can do hard things, life is a wild journey and challenge, but we persevere. Love Us!!! ❤️✨🍄☀️🐻🌲🥕

I certainly have, and what a freaking difference good bread and beautiful high quality flours makes in my every day life as an eater and cook. Come and check out this documentary GOOD GRAIN, hosted by my favorite farmers market @wwfarmersmarket on Sunday 12/7, 4-6pm, in West Windsor. There will be a mini market (local bread, pasta, baked goods) and I’ll be serving a lovely local vegetable Minestra with local grains inside 😋. Watching the awe, awareness and appreciation of real food grow… Meeting old and new farmers, people who are curious, families who traveled hours to be there, every day people, everyone in between and all around ☀️

So you’re going to the farmers market this weekend, you ask yourself what you want to make while participating in tonight’s plans of chilling very hard. Maybe you need a little something to accompany some bbq’d items. Try this recipe! Guapo Gazpacho! Markets listed at the bottom.

6 large juicy tomatoes
2 medium cucumbers, peeled
1/4 to 1/2 of a melon or 3 ripe peaches (canteloup, water melon!)
¾ cup of cooked white beans
½ of a medium red onion
¼ cup of red wine vinegar
1 cup of water
1 tablespoon of organic cane sugar
1 teaspoon of sea salt + more to taste
¼ cup of good olive oil
A few leaves of basil for garnish

Peel and chop your cucumber, chop tomato and onion, scoop out hunks of melon/peach, and
add into your blender with every other ingredient. Don’t worry about the size of your chopped
veg, as long as it fits in the blender. Blend on high until completely smooth. A few little chunks
are okay and kind of nice as you sip this cold soup. To adjust seasoning, add more sugar, salt or
vinegar to your liking (acid, salty, sweet). Refrigerate until completely chilled (about 3 hours
minimum). This will stay fresh in your fridge for about 5 days. Garnish with fresh basil, a dash of
olive oil, and fresh cracked pepper for fun.

Well….. I had the BEST time Popping Up at the first ever @irismusicshowcase In Philly yesterday!!!. I am floored by all the music, beautiful vibes, cozy space, and lovely hosts. And to see sweet faces from many moons ago when I lived in Philly for a hot minute & met so many lovely musical humans. A few short weeks ago I did a little cooking demo and cookbook hello at the @wwfarmersmarket . I made an herbal iced tea using @northslopefarmnj herbs, and a hearty salad using 100% market ingredients. Popping up next to my farmer artisan community people was a full circle moment since my recipes and business would not be possible without them. Meeting new organic food loving faces was a reminder of how simple it can be to inspire someone to join your local food party by sharing your story and some snacks.
Here’s to a season of nourishing food and lush gardens, and supporting the growers and makers who do it for many good reasons. I’m so proud to have finished my little bookie, and excited to share it again. Love us 🩵☀️🍕

@bobolinkdairyandbakehouse are not only my cheese and bread heroes, but when I want to feel comfort and love I go straight to their stand at the farmers market. Especially Nina’s cookies and cranbury walnut bread, their cultured butter, rainbow of cheeses.. and sacred to me cured meats. I heard about Bobolink through the grapevine 15 years ago and visited their farm with RIPE on a school trip. Their philosophy and small regenerative and ethical dairy farming practices was so inspiring and exciting to me as a budding farm head. And there is even more to learn and explore today in this field of food! BOBOLINK #1 Fan. Nina and Jonathon for cheese and bread president. What a blast it was so serve my goodies next to them last night!! Thanks @beyondtheplatefoodtours for putting this together!

A cozy meal on a rainy day 🍲☔️
@cherrygrovefarm Lawrenceville Jack mushroom Mac and cheese!

Recipe (makes 2 servings or 1 giant serving 😋)
1 cup of dry pasta
3 T of butter/olive oil
1/2 onion, sliced up
6-7 mushrooms of choice sliced up
5 cloves of garlic, minced
2 T flour
1/4 cup of chick or veg broth
1-4 cup of milk
1/2 cup of shredded cheese
A bit of fresh thyme
A but if sliced scallions

▫️Boil 1 cup of dry pasta
▫️Sauté onions for 5 minutes on medium low heat
▫️Add in sliced mushroom and garlic and sauté for another 3-4 mins
▫️add flour and stir until absorbed
▫️add milk and broth, stir until combined
▫️then turn off the heat and added shredded cheese and fresh thyme
▫️add in boiled pasta
▫️stir well, garnish with more cheese, and slices scallion

❄️🍲 As our little buns freeze into literal ice biscuits, we might wonder how it’s possible to eat local during winter... Take a little gander at this menu I made last night at @northslopefarmnj for @nofanj . It was so freaking tasty!! I found 98% of the ingredients from the @wwfarmersmarket winter market!

I remain on the quest for a 10/10 breakfast.. This one has made the list… Maybe it’s the combination of fiber, carbohydrate, protein, hydration, and straight up nutrition from all the veggies… I just feel great after munching/sipping on this soup with a cracked egg or two if i’m in the mood!!.

Recipe:

1/2 cups of Italian barley (any grain works)
A heaping pile of chopped greens (kale in this one)
4 cups of veg or chicken broth
A bunch of minced garlic
1-2 cups of cooked kidney beans

Sauté chopped veggies until tender
Add everything except the kale, and simmer on medium/low for about 30 minutes until all veggies and grain are cooked
Then add garlic and kale, cook for another 10 minutes. That’s it!
Season with salt, fresh or dried herbs, and any extra spice like smoked paprika, oregano, parsley…

If this fresh out of the oven Kale Spanakopita doesn’t say holiday cozy cozy, then I don’t know what does!!
..Actually I have about 12 more recipes that also do…

Makes a great holiday app sliced up into squares, or as a great vegetarian entree.
.
Ingredients and recipe:
-2 sheets of good puff pastry (preferably from your local Greek grocery shop)
-2 bunches of kale, stripped from stem and finely chopped
-1 medium onion, small diced
-20 oz of feta cheese
-1 bunch of dill finely chopped

-Preheat oven to 375
-Sauté onions in a generous amount of olive oil until soft a lightly browned
-Add chopped kale and season with a little salt.
-Once kale is softened and cooked, add crumbled feta and dill, and mix everything together to create the filling
- Lay one sheet of puff pastry down on a parchment lined baking sheet and spread your filling down evenly. Then cover with the second layer of pastry.
-Pinch the ends of the pastry together, then brush the whole pastry with egg wash.
-Score the top lightly for an even and pretty looking bake
-Bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown

-2 bunches of kale, stripped from stem and finely chopped
-1 medium onion, small diced
-20 oz of feta cheese
-1 bunch of dill finely chopped

-Preheat oven to 375
-Sauté onions in a generous amount of olive oil until soft a lightly browned
-Add chopped kale and season with a little salt.
-Once kale is softened and cooked, add crumbled feta and dill, and mix everything together to create the filling
- Lay one sheet of puff pastry down on a parchment lined baking sheet and spread your filling down evenly. Then cover with the second layer of pastry.
-Pinch the ends of the pastry together, then brush the whole pastry with egg wash.
-Score the top lightly for an even and pretty looking bake
-Bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown
